The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to host an exciting round of ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) League 2 matches, commencing on Sunday, October 26, with Nepal and the USA joining the fray in Dubai. This series plays a crucial role in the qualification pathway for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 and will be held at two prestigious venues—Dubai International Stadium and ICC Academy Oval 1.
The week-long tri-series will consist of a total of seven matches, all beginning at 9:30 am local time. Teams will be vying for vital points to enhance their standings in the ICC CWC League 2 rankings, which are instrumental in determining their spot in the upcoming World Cup.
The tournament will kick off with a match between Nepal and the USA at the Dubai International Stadium on October 26, setting the stage for what promises to be an electrifying series.
The UAE team will start their campaign by taking on the USA on Tuesday, October 28, at the same venue. Following this, they will face Nepal at ICC Academy Oval 1 on October 30, before a rematch with the USA on November 3 at DIS. The UAE’s final match will be against Nepal on November 5, again at the ICC Academy Oval 1. Additionally, Nepal and the USA are scheduled to compete against each other on opening day, with another encounter set for November 1 at ICC Academy Oval 1.
Rahul Chopra has been appointed captain of the young UAE squad, reflecting a commitment to building a team with both promising talents and experienced players. The 15-member lineup includes skilled batters like Alishan Sharafu, Haider Ali, and Shoaib Khan, while Junaid Siddique and Simranjeet Singh will lead the pace attack. The spin department is equally strong, featuring Muhammad Rohid Khan and Zahid Ali, both adept at leveraging the conditions in Dubai.
