Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority’s operator, Legends/ASM Global, has appointed Shannon Kelly as the new general manager of U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. This announcement comes as John Drum transitions to the role of regional vice president for the company, overseeing multiple stadiums including other prominent NFL venues.
Michael Vekich, chair of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority, highlighted the significance of these appointments in reinforcing the leadership team at U.S. Bank Stadium. Vekich expressed gratitude for Drum’s impactful leadership during his eight-year tenure and welcomed Kelly’s promotion, noting her contributions as the venue’s director of events since she joined in 2018.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve as the next general manager and excited for the future of U.S. Bank Stadium,” Kelly stated. As a Minnesota native, she looks forward to building on past successes and collaborating with local partners, including the Minnesota Vikings.
In her new role, Kelly will manage the stadium’s day-to-day operations, ensuring a high standard for events and overall facility management. Meanwhile, in his new capacity, Drum will manage an array of venues, expanding his influence across the organization.
Both appointments reflect confidence in Legends/ASM Global’s leadership and the continued growth of U.S. Bank Stadium, which opened its doors in 2016. This venue has hosted significant events, including concerts by top artists like The Weeknd and Post Malone.
The future looks promising for U.S. Bank Stadium under Kelly’s stewardship, as she leads a talented team and looks to enhance the stadium’s reputation in the sports and entertainment industry.
