Tyrese Gibson is facing legal trouble following an arrest warrant for animal cruelty related to an incident where his four Cane Corso dogs allegedly mauled and killed a neighbor’s dog in Georgia. Fulton County Police issued the warrant after receiving multiple complaints involving Gibson’s dogs, highlighting concerns about community safety, particularly with large breeds like Cane Corsos.
According to Police Captain Nicole Dwyer, there had been an ongoing issue, with Gibson previously receiving several warnings about his dogs. Dwyer stressed the importance of prioritizing community safety, noting, “Our main priority is safety, and that’s why we want the dogs in custody.” Gibson failed to turn himself in as instructed by police, despite communications between his attorney and law enforcement.
On September 18, the incident occurred when a neighbor’s spaniel was allowed outside and subsequently attacked by Gibson’s dogs. The small dog did not survive despite efforts to get it to a veterinary hospital. Witnesses reported seeing the four dogs next door, prompting the frightened neighbor to call the authorities. Animal control was dispatched to manage the situation, ensuring safety.
A search warrant was executed on September 22 for Gibson’s property, but he and the dogs were not found at the residence. In light of the tragic event, Gibson’s attorney, Gabe Banks, confirmed that the actor is cooperating with authorities and has made a responsible choice to rehome his dogs. Banks expressed Gibson’s condolences to the family affected by the loss of their pet.
In a social media post, Gibson shared a video of his dogs but did not comment directly on the situation. Instead, the video featured discussions from the podcast “The Breakfast Club” concerning the ongoing case. As the situation develops, it underlines the complexities of pet ownership and the responsibilities that come with caring for large breeds, ensuring they do not pose a threat to others in the community.
