After suffering a significant knee injury in Week 4 that has ended his season, Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is contemplating his future in the NFL. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has suggested that Hill may aim to return to the sport in 2026; however, Hill himself appears less certain about this possibility.
In a recent podcast episode with his former Miami teammate Terron Armstead, Hill discussed the factors influencing his decision about continuing his football career. “At the end of the day, I feel like that decision is based upon how I feel and where my mindset is at the moment,” he stated. Hill expressed appreciation for his football journey, acknowledging both the physical and mental demands of the sport. “I love playing football. I love it, but it takes a lot,” he added.
Prior to the injury, Hill was a prominent trade candidate due to contract circumstances and the Dolphins’ situation, however, new allegations surrounding domestic violence complicated his standing. The Dolphins are reportedly planning to release Hill before the third day of the 2026 league year, when a portion of his salary would become guaranteed. If they do decide to part ways with him, Hill’s prospects in free agency may be impacted by his age, injury history, and personal issues.
Hill has not provided a specific timeline for when he will make a decision regarding his future. “I need to have a conversation with my mom, family, everybody… I just want to be in this moment with my family. I don’t want to make any rash decisions,” he explained.
Despite facing adversity, Hill boasts a remarkable career with impressive statistics, including 11,363 receiving yards and 95 total touchdowns. His postseason performance is notable as well, with 1,212 receiving yards and seven touchdowns across 15 playoff games. He has earned nearly $150 million from his NFL career and was part of the Kansas City Chiefs team that secured a Super Bowl victory in 2020.
Reflecting on his injury, Hill shared, “[w]hen I got tackled, I immediately tried to get up… I’d seen that my leg was crooked. I immediately started laughing because I’ve been able to play this game for 10 years, really my entire life.” He continues to express gratitude for the support from his family and the joy of playing football, indicating a focus not just on the injury itself but on the positives he has experienced in his career.
