Former child star Tylor Chase, known for his role in Nickelodeon’s “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide,” is facing significant challenges, having recently revealed his struggles with homelessness and drug addiction. The 36-year-old actor is currently sleeping on his mother Paula Moisio’s porch in Riverside, California, where a makeshift plywood barrier has been erected to shield him from public view.
Though Moisio describes her home as a “safe space” for her son, it remains unclear whether Chase is permitted inside the house or is simply being allowed to rest on the porch. Recent reports indicate that a GoFundMe campaign intended to assist him was shut down after raising over $1,200. Moisio expressed concern, stating that her son needs medical help rather than financial support for his substances.
Chase’s situation worsened around Christmas when he was hospitalized, supposedly preparing to enter a rehabilitation facility. However, sightings of him wandering the streets looking disheveled and digging through trash have raised concerns for his wellbeing. He has been seen frequently around the Riverside area and has accumulated 12 misdemeanor arrests in 2023, largely connected to shoplifting.
Local residents are increasingly aware of his presence, with reports of Chase interacting with them and sometimes being recognized from a viral TikTok video. Despite challenges, a former co-star, Daniel Curtis Lee, recently reunited with Chase after locating him in Riverside. Lee took him for a meal and provided temporary accommodation at a motel, hoping to support him in his recovery journey.
Chase, who has reportedly been open about his medication regimen, including a mix of psychotropic medications, denies any formal mental health diagnoses. His story serves as a poignant reminder of the struggles many face after the spotlight fades, highlighting the need for compassion and support in the community. As he navigates these difficulties, there remains hope that with the right assistance, Chase might find a way back to stability and health.
