Tyla was in the spotlight recently, attending both the Victoria’s Secret fashion show and the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards, where she made a stunning fashion statement. The BET awards, filmed on October 8 and aired the following week, saw the singer donning a vintage John Galliano creation from the early 2000s.
During her appearance at the awards, held at Drai’s Beachclub & Nightclub in Las Vegas, Tyla showcased a black sequined minidress designed to resemble a sports jersey, which featured “Galliano” emblazoned in green block letters across the chest and “1” as the jersey number. The original version of this design was also available in red.
Tyla styled the dress off-the-shoulder, accessorizing with jewelry from Tiffany & Co.’s HardWear collection, which is known for its link motif inspired by designs from 1962. She completed her look with knee-high slouchy snap boots from Y-project. Her hair was styled in braids pulled back into a bun, and her makeup featured a glossy lip.
At the ceremony, Tyla teamed up with Teyana Taylor to present the “I Am Hip Hop” award to Travis Scott. Taylor also drew inspiration from the 2000s with her outfit, which included baggy jeans and a distressed jacket, finished off with Rick Owens boots.
Tyla’s affinity for vintage fashion is well-documented. She previously wore a vintage Versace gown to the BET Awards in June, a striking black piece from the brand’s fall 2004 collection.
