The New York City area is bracing for winter weather this week as forecasters predict two separate snow events. The initial snowfall could begin as early as Tuesday night, impacting areas in New Jersey first before reaching New York City early Wednesday morning.

Following the first round of snow, a more powerful winter storm is anticipated to move across the Northeast late Thursday. This second storm is expected to bring additional snowfall on Friday, potentially lasting into early Saturday. While neither storm is predicted to deliver heavy accumulations, the first may yield between 1 to 2 inches of snow, while totals for the second storm could reach up to 3 inches in NYC.

In addition to the snow, the second storm is forecasted to generate strong wind gusts ranging from 30 to 40 mph. These winds could lead to blustery conditions and reduced visibility on the roads, making driving hazardous on Friday. As temperatures drop back into the 20s and teens over the weekend, residents should prepare for a potential return to colder winter conditions.

While the snowfall totals are far less significant compared to last month’s winter storm, the combination of snow and high winds could create challenging conditions. The second storm is projected to exit the northeastern coastline by Sunday, but meteorologists caution it might strengthen briefly, evolving into a coastal storm.

This week’s weather forecast serves as a reminder that winter is still in full swing, encouraging residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions as the storms approach.
