Two individuals from Qauia in Lami have been brought before the Suva Magistrate’s Court, facing charges related to the murder of Police Constable 8012 Peniasi Racagi. Keni Salawai, aged 42, and Jope Seniloli, aged 20, appeared in front of Senior Magistrate Sufia Hamza for the proceedings.

The charges stem from an incident that reportedly occurred between February 21 and 22, 2026, during which the two men, alongside a third individual, are accused of assisting and facilitating actions that led to the fatal injuries of Constable Racagi.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Pritika Prasad noted that initial disclosures have been provided as part of the case’s proceedings. As the allegations are categorized as an indictable offense, the case has been referred to the High Court for further handling. The defendants have also been advised to submit an alibi notice should they intend to rely on one in their defense.

Currently, the men remain in custody and are set to make their next appearance at the High Court in Suva on March 13. With ongoing legal processes, the court system continues to address serious offenses while ensuring that the rights of the accused are upheld.
