Two men have been officially charged in connection with the tragic death of Police Constable 8012 Peniasi Racagi. Following discussions with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), a 42-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, both residents of Qauia in Lami, face murder charges.
The charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred between February 21 and 22, 2026, during which the accused, along with another individual, are said to have aided and abetted actions that resulted in injuries to Constable Racagi, ultimately leading to his death.
Currently, both men remain in police custody and are set to appear in the Suva Magistrates Court tomorrow. This development highlights ongoing efforts to seek justice following the loss of a dedicated police officer, emphasizing the legal system’s commitment to addressing such serious offenses.
