Apple TV has announced that its new three-part docuseries, “Twisted Yoga,” will premiere on March 13. The series is crafted by an accomplished team of producers, including two-time Academy Award winner Simon Chinn, Emmy Award winner Jonathan Chinn, Suzanne Lavery, and Bernadette Higgins, all bringing a wealth of experience from various acclaimed projects.

Directed by Rowan Deacon, known for his work on “Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story,” “Twisted Yoga” explores the lives of a group of young yoga practitioners who are drawn from across the globe to embrace the ancient practice seeking inner peace and purpose. However, as they delve deeper, they encounter Gregorian Bivolaru, a reclusive Romanian guru at the center of a sprawling international network of yoga studios that specialize in controversial tantric rituals.

As the students begin to suspect they may have unwittingly joined a cult, they uncover Bivolaru’s troubling history, which includes serious charges in France such as human trafficking, kidnapping, and rape—allegations he firmly denies. The docuseries follows the journey of these women as they navigate their experiences and collaborate with French authorities to seek justice against Bivolaru.

Produced for Apple TV by Lightbox in association with Ladywell Films, “Twisted Yoga” promises a gripping exploration of spirituality intertwined with darker themes, shedding light on the complexities of seeking fulfillment and the potential risks involved. With a talented team behind it, the series is poised to spark important conversations while captivating audiences.
