Twins Star Collision: A Winning Streak on the Line?

The Minnesota Twins faced a setback during their winning streak as stars Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa were involved in a collision during Thursday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles. The incident occurred in the bottom of the third inning when Correa attempted to catch a fly ball hit by Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins. In a scramble for the catch, Correa and Buxton collided head-on, though Buxton managed to hold onto the ball, recording an important out.

After the collision, both players remained on the field and were evaluated by trainers. Correa was removed from the game and replaced by Jonah Bride, while Buxton initially continued playing but was taken out in the middle of the fourth inning. As of now, the Twins have not released an update regarding the injuries sustained by either player.

Both Buxton and Correa have faced injury challenges in the past season, with Correa limited to 86 games due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot, and Buxton missing time with knee and hip issues. Despite some early difficulties in the 2025 season, the Twins have rebounded well, entering Thursday’s game with a record of 23-20. They are currently fourth in the American League Central but have a solid plus-24 run differential, which is the second-best in the division.

The team and its fans will undoubtedly be hoping for good news regarding the health of Buxton and Correa, as both players are crucial for the Twins as they aim to continue their successful run.
