Tuwai backs Fiji Sevens to bounce back after costly errors

Tuwai backs Fiji Sevens: on track despite costly errors

Former Fiji 7s rugby player Jerry Tuwai has voiced his steadfast support for the national men’s rugby team, reinforcing that they are still on the right track despite facing challenges in the World Rugby Sevens Series. Tuwai, a proud double Olympic gold medallist, acknowledged the team’s commendable performance but highlighted that costly basic errors during critical moments have hindered their ability to secure crucial victories.

Tuwai remains hopeful, asserting that these mistakes are correctable and expressing confidence that the team will swiftly regain their momentum. His insights, shaped by his experience as both a player and a spectator, reflect a strong dedication to the squad. “I think they are performing really well at the moment, but basic errors have cost them games. I know that they will bounce back,” he said reassuringly.

The former rugby star underscored that every team participates in tournaments with the aim to give their best and secure wins. “No teams go there and play to lose. Sometimes our opponents are just better on the day. But I believe in my heart that they will come back stronger in the next tournament,” he added.

Tuwai stressed the need for the team to reflect on their recent outings in Cape Town and Dubai, calling for a return to the drawing board to address the mistakes made. With Tuwai’s unwavering support and belief in their potential for improvement, there is a renewed sense of hope that Fiji’s rugby men’s side will rise to the occasion in forthcoming tournaments.
