Tutu Atwell is ready to take on any role the Los Angeles Rams may require from him. The wide receiver showcased his talent last Sunday, catching four passes for 93 yards, including a crucial 50-yard reception that set up a game-tying touchdown in a 27-24 victory against the San Francisco 49ers.
Following Atwell’s impressive performance, Rams head coach Sean McVay acknowledged that Atwell should have been given more chances throughout the season. However, Atwell remains unfazed by this, expressing confidence in the coaching staff’s decisions.
“I just leave it in the coaches’ hands. Whenever my number is called, I make the most of it,” Atwell stated as he prepared for the upcoming game against the Chicago Bears. He emphasized that he is not concerned about the frequency of his opportunities, focusing instead on making an impact when it matters.
In addition to his catches, Atwell’s performance against the 49ers included drawing a pass interference penalty that gained the team an additional 48 yards. He also attempted a pass that was later overturned upon review.
Atwell doesn’t see himself merely as a deep threat; rather, he identifies as a “playmaker” who thrives when he has the ball in his hands.
This Sunday at Soldier Field, Atwell is expected to play a significant role, especially with star receiver Cooper Kupp out indefinitely due to an ankle injury and Puka Nacua on injured reserve with a knee injury. Atwell will join Demarcus Robinson, rookie Jordan Whittington, and veteran Tyler Johnson as quarterback Matthew Stafford’s targets.
“I’m just going to do what I do,” Atwell said. “Have fun and play football.”
