Fiji Airways has made a significant contribution of $10,000 to the Fiji Cancer Society as part of its efforts to support Pinktober, a campaign dedicated to raising awareness about cancer. Emphasizing the theme “Turning awareness into action,” the airline organized various initiatives aimed at empowering its staff while promoting preventative health checks and community outreach regarding cancer prevention.
Paul Scurrah, managing director and CEO of Fiji Airways, expressed pride in the unity and compassion shown by the airline’s employees during this campaign. “Pinktober is a reminder that our strength as an organization lies in how we support one another,” he stated. The commitment to caring for employees and their communities was echoed by Chief People Officer Anna Morris, who highlighted the growing impact of their initiatives each year.
Morris noted the importance of equipping staff with essential knowledge and support to make informed health decisions, allowing them to positively influence their own families and communities. “Every year, our efforts grow stronger, reaching more of our people and the wider community,” she added.
The Fiji Cancer Society also expressed gratitude for the airline’s ongoing partnership. CEO Belinda Chan thanked Fiji Airways for its dedication to community wellness, describing the donation as more than just financial support. “Your generous support is a lifeline that brings hope, care, and dignity to Fijians affected by cancer,” Chan remarked.
Fiji Airways employees actively participated in fundraising activities, ranging from bake sales to team challenges, all themed around pink to reflect the effort’s mission. This collaborative spirit not only helps raise vital funds but also fosters a deeper connection and collective resilience in the fight against cancer.
Fiji Airways joins a growing list of companies, such as Telecom Fiji and Vodafone Fiji, that have demonstrated their commitment to community health through substantial donations to the Fiji Cancer Society. This trend reflects a wider recognition of the crucial roles corporations can play in supporting health initiatives and reinforcing community solidarity.
Through these collective efforts, there is a hopeful outlook for increased awareness and support for those affected by cancer, reinforcing the idea that together, communities can make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals facing such challenges.
