Fiji Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu is looking forward to the highly anticipated Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl, set to take place this Friday. He has emphasized the significance of reclaiming the esteemed ‘tanoa’ for Nasova and highlighted the months of dedicated preparation that have led to this pivotal week. Tudravu believes it is essential for his officers to showcase their strength, discipline, and teamwork in a variety of sports throughout the event.
With the Military team equally eager to perform, Tudravu stated that the extensive groundwork laid during training is about to be tested. “When the dust settles this Friday at Subrail Park in Labasa, the only thing I want to see is the tanoa being brought back to Nasova. That is my main message,” he affirmed. He also expressed respect for the Military Commander and extended his best wishes in what promises to be a friendly yet competitive rivalry.
In addition to the competition itself, Tudravu is calling for community support during the week-long events, urging families to attend and cheer for both the Police and Military forces. “When supporters come out in numbers for this week-long event, it not only shows the pride we have in our men and women in uniform but also reinforces our appreciation for the critical role they play in ensuring the nation’s safety,” he emphasized.
The festivities started earlier today with the first events, including cricket and boxing, while touch rugby and veterans’ rugby competitions will follow tomorrow. Thursday will feature men’s soccer, culminating in men’s and women’s rugby matches on Friday at Subrail Park, which will be broadcast live on FBC Sports.
This year’s competition theme, “Stronger Together: Building a Drug-Free Nation through Family, Unity, and Reconciliation,” highlights the deeper purpose of the event that extends beyond athletic performance. Both the Police and Military Forces are committed to emphasizing community values and social responsibility. With a spirit of camaraderie and competition, the Sukuna Bowl promises to be a thrilling event that unites the nation, celebrates its heroes, and fosters a sense of community.
