The Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Service (TSLS) recently conducted its inaugural pre-departure orientation for High Achievers Higher Education Level 7 students in the Central Division. This session aims to equip scholarship recipients with essential knowledge and tools before embarking on their overseas studies.

During the orientation, TSLS officials detailed the academic responsibilities, reporting obligations, and compliance expectations that accompany the scholarship program. Students were informed about necessary preparations for their departure and what to expect while studying abroad. Importantly, officers emphasized the support systems available to scholarship holders, assuring students that TSLS will be accessible to provide assistance throughout their academic journeys.

The program featured an interactive open forum where students and their parents could voice concerns and clarify expectations before moving overseas. Following this, each student engaged with a joint panel consisting of TSLS and representatives from the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation. These discussions centered on addressing individual circumstances and exploring the various support mechanisms to facilitate a smoother transition to studying abroad.

Looking ahead, TSLS announced that similar orientation sessions will be hosted in the Western and Northern divisions over the coming weeks. So far, 36 students have received offers for overseas scholarships, with ongoing assessments for additional applicants. TSLS has also reminded candidates that submissions for all scholarship schemes will close on Saturday.

This proactive approach by TSLS underscores its commitment to fostering academic excellence and ensuring that students feel supported as they prepare for this significant step in their educational careers.
