President-elect Donald Trump announced over the weekend that he will not be inviting former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to join his new administration. In a statement on Truth Social, Trump expressed gratitude for their previous contributions to the country, saying, “I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them.”

Haley served as Trump’s U.N. Ambassador starting in 2016 before resigning two years later. Since then, she has embarked on her campaign for the 2024 presidential election, achieving victories in the Vermont and Washington D.C. primaries and making history as the first woman to win a Republican primary. Throughout their careers, both Haley and Pompeo have provided support for Trump, despite occasionally criticizing him in the past. They significantly backed his reelection efforts and mobilized GOP supporters during the recent Republican convention.

In response to Trump’s announcement, Haley shared her pride in having served during Trump’s first term and expressed her hopes for a stronger America under his leadership in the upcoming years.

Pompeo, who previously held the role of CIA director during Trump’s administration, was also mentioned as a potential candidate for the next Secretary of Defense. Both Haley and Pompeo have been advocates for increased U.S. support for Ukraine, a stance that has recently faced opposition from some conservative lawmakers.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk participated in a phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, signaling possible involvement of the tech billionaire in the future administration.

This development might indicate a shift in alliances within the Republican Party, as Trump continues to build his team. The future dynamics could lead to interesting changes in both domestic and foreign policy as the administration takes shape.

It remains to be seen how this new administration will address ongoing issues, especially with support for Ukraine and relations with key party figures. As the government transitions, there’s hope that a balance will be struck between Trump’s vision and the differing views of party members, setting the stage for a potentially unified approach to governance.
