Donald Trump has launched a fresh tirade against pop icon Taylor Swift following her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency.
On Sunday, Trump took to Truth Social, expressing his disdain with an all-caps statement: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” without offering any further explanation.
In response, Liz Cheney, the former Republican congressional representative supporting Harris, quoted Trump’s post on X (formerly Twitter) with a jab: “Says the smallest man who ever lived,” referencing one of Swift’s songs from her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”
GOP strategist Ana Navarro, known for her criticism of Trump, remarked on X, “Donald Trump has lost what little sanity he had left. Taylor Swift broke him.”
Last week, Swift announced on Instagram her decision to vote for Democrat Kamala Harris after Harris’s strong performance against Trump in a debate on September 10. Her Instagram Story included a link to Vote.gov, resulting in over 400,000 visits to the site within 24 hours.
In her post, Swift stated, “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.” She also criticized Trump for previously using a misleading AI-generated image of her to suggest she was endorsing him.
Trump’s recent comments indicate a shift in his previous admiration for Swift, specifically her looks. Previously, he had acknowledged her talent while admitting that he doesn’t think she supports him. Following Swift’s support for Harris, Trump claimed, “I was not a Taylor Swift fan” and suggested that she would “probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.” When discussing his preferences, Trump expressed his admiration for Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, stating, “Well I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better. If you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan.” He dismissed Swift, saying, “But I like Brittany. Brittany is great.”
