The co-founder of Turning Point USA, Kirk was tragically shot on September 10 while leading a debate at Utah Valley University, a part of his The American Comeback Tour aimed at engaging college students in crucial discussions.
In a poignant tribute, President Donald Trump is expected to posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. Trump first announced the devastating news of Kirk’s death on the day it occurred and promptly vowed to honor him as a “giant of his generation.”
The awarding ceremony coincides with Trump’s return to Washington after a trip to the Middle East, where he played a role in brokering a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
