Weather warnings have been issued across South Florida as a surge of tropical moisture and a stationary frontal boundary lead to heavy rainfall in the area. On Monday, a flash flood warning was declared for northern Miami-Dade County, effective until 4:45 p.m.
The National Weather Service reported that thunderstorms were producing intense rain, with radar indicating that between 2 to 3 inches had already fallen, and an additional 1 to 3 inches is expected. Areas forecasted to experience significant flash flooding include Hialeah, Miami Gardens, North Miami, North Miami Beach, Aventura, Opa-locka, Miami Shores, Golden Glades, Westview, Pinewood, West Little River, Ojus, and Biscayne Park. A flood advisory remains in effect for all of Miami-Dade County until 4:30 p.m.
In neighboring Broward County, a strong thunderstorm is impacting northern regions and is expected to continue through 2:45 p.m. At approximately 2:08 p.m., the NWS tracked a strong thunderstorm over Plantation, making its way northeast at 10 mph. Residents have been warned about the potential for gusty winds that could break tree limbs or blow unsecured items, posing a risk of damage.
With heavy rain and thunderstorms affecting much of the area, residents are urged to stay alert and prepared. Monitoring local updates is essential to ensure safety during this weather event.
