The broadcasting community is mourning the loss of Malakai Gucake, a former broadcaster at BulaFM and presenter on Fiji TV, who has passed away after a brief illness. Rupeni Matakibau, a former host of Fiji TV’s “Nai Katalau,” described Gucake as a man of all seasons whose life was filled with significant social interactions. Matakibau remembered Gucake as a cheerful and enthusiastic person, dedicated to his work and eager to connect with others. He highlighted Gucake’s integrity and commitment to completing tasks with thoughtfulness, noting that he was especially passionate about fostering relationships and community.

Apenisa Rakanace, Team Leader at Bula FM, shared how Gucake brightly lit up the station’s breakfast show from 2004 to 2006. He emphasized Gucake’s ability to impart valuable life lessons, such as the importance of helping others and maintaining connections with one’s relatives.
