Rapper Travis Scott has been arrested following an alleged altercation with a security guard involving his bodyguard at a luxury hotel in central Paris, according to French authorities.
On August 9, 2024, police responded to a call at the George V hotel and took Scott into custody for allegedly assaulting a security guard who tried to separate him from his bodyguard. The Paris public prosecutor’s office has passed the case to the 1st district of the judicial police for further investigation, with no additional details provided.
A spokesperson for Scott stated that the rapper had been subjected to relentless harassment by paparazzi for several days without assistance, which led to the confrontation with his security team. They added that they are in contact with local authorities to resolve the issue quickly.
As of Friday afternoon, the 33-year-old, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, remained in custody. Authorities are expected to question him, which could result in his release or the filing of charges.
Recently, Scott was seen attending the men’s Olympic basketball semifinal, where the U.S. team achieved a narrow victory. The George V hotel, located near the iconic Champs-Élysées and with views of the Eiffel Tower, is known for its Michelin-starred dining options.
Previously, Scott faced legal issues in June due to a disorderly intoxication charge after allegedly causing a scene on a yacht in Miami Beach, Florida, which his attorney labeled a simple “misunderstanding.”
Scott has not publicly commented on his latest arrest, and efforts to reach his representative by the Associated Press have gone unanswered.
