Travis Scott’s Paris Drama: Arrests, Altercations, and Quick Release

Rapper Travis Scott was released without charges on Saturday following his arrest in Paris earlier this week, according to his representative.

The arrest occurred on Friday after an alleged altercation between Scott and a security guard, as well as his personal bodyguard, at a luxury hotel in central Paris, according to French authorities.

A statement from the Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed that police were summoned to the George V hotel on August 9, 2024, where Scott was apprehended for allegedly assaulting a security guard. The incident arose when the guard attempted to separate Scott from his bodyguard. The case has been forwarded to the 1st district of the judicial police for further review.

On Saturday, the prosecutor’s office stated that the case against Scott was closed due to the incident not being deemed “sufficiently serious.”

A source close to the rapper mentioned that Scott had been overwhelmed by fans and paparazzi throughout the week, leading him to place blame on his bodyguard for inadequate protection, which culminated in the altercation with his own security team.

Scott’s representative indicated that they had been in contact with local authorities to resolve the matter quickly.

The rapper, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was seen among the crowd at the Olympic men’s basketball semifinal on Thursday, where the U.S. team narrowly defeated their opponent to advance to the final.

The George V hotel, situated near the iconic Champs-Élysées and offering views of the Eiffel Tower, is known for its multiple Michelin-starred restaurants.

Earlier this year, Scott had been arrested in June for disorderly intoxication after he allegedly yelled at people from a yacht in Miami Beach, Florida. His attorney described that incident as a simple “misunderstanding.”
