Travis Scott Released After Paris Altercation: What’s Next?

Rapper Travis Scott was released on Saturday without facing charges following his arrest in Paris earlier this week, as confirmed by a representative.

Authorities reported that the incident on Friday involved an altercation between Scott and his bodyguard at a luxury hotel located in central Paris. The Paris prosecutor’s office stated that police were called to the George V hotel on August 9, 2024, and took Scott into custody for allegedly assaulting a security guard who intervened in the dispute.

The prosecutor’s office noted that the case had been referred to the 1st district of the judicial police, without providing additional details. However, on Saturday, they confirmed that the case against Scott was closed, deeming the offense “not sufficiently serious.”

A source close to Scott mentioned that he was overwhelmed by fans and paparazzi during his time in Paris and blamed his bodyguard for not providing adequate protection, leading to the conflict with his security detail.

Scott’s representative stated that they were in touch with local authorities on Friday to quickly resolve the situation.

Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was seen in the audience at the men’s Olympic basketball semifinal on Thursday, where the U.S. team achieved a close four-point victory to advance to the final and compete for a gold medal.

The George V hotel is located near the famous Champs-Élysées and offers views of the Eiffel Tower, featuring several Michelin-starred restaurants.

This incident follows a previous arrest in June, where Scott faced charges for disorderly intoxication after allegedly causing a disturbance on a yacht in Miami Beach, Florida. His attorney described that situation as a mere “misunderstanding.”
