Travis Kelce Takes on a New Role: TV Debut in FX’s “Grotesquerie”

Travis Kelce is set to make his scripted television debut this month in the upcoming FX series “Grotesquerie,” created by Ryan Murphy. During a press conference on Monday, Murphy shared that the character was specifically tailored for Kelce after he expressed interest in pursuing acting.

Murphy recounted a meeting held during the pre-production phase of “Grotesquerie,” where Kelce mentioned his desire to explore acting opportunities. He said, “No, I want to do it now. I have three months now, and I really would love to have anything.” This prompted Murphy to write a role specifically for the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, who eagerly accepted the offer.

Murphy directed Kelce’s first episode alongside Niecy Nash-Betts, and he praised Kelce’s professionalism and dedication. He stated, “He really was amazing. He worked with an acting coach for several months, showed up off book, and knew everybody’s lines. He kept saying to me, ‘I’m real coachable. Coach me, coach me.’ So I did, and he ended up being a delight.” Murphy described Kelce as a kind and genuine leader, affirming his enjoyment of working with him.

Details about Kelce’s character in “Grotesquerie” remain under wraps, but a trailer offers a brief glimpse of his role. The series follows Nash-Betts as Detective Lois Tryon, who investigates a series of disturbing crimes that seem to target her personally. Caught in a personal struggle with her daughter and a husband who is in long-term hospital care, Lois faces her own inner demons while searching for answers.

She reluctantly teams up with Sister Megan, played by Micaela Diamond, a nun who has her own challenging history yet maintains faith in humanity’s goodness. As Lois and Sister Megan unravel clues, they find themselves ensnared in a complex and ominous situation that raises more questions than solutions.

The cast also includes Courtney B. Vance, Lesley Manville, Raven Goodwin, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez.
