Travis Kelce: From Gridiron to the Big Screen!

As the football season gets underway, Travis Kelce is making waves not just on the field but also on screen, alongside his girlfriend Taylor Swift. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is expanding his acting career with a role in Ryan Murphy’s FX drama “Grotesquerie,” which airs Wednesdays at 10 PM EDT/PDT.

The limited series consists of 10 episodes and follows Detective Lois Tryon, played by Niecy Nash-Betts, as she investigates a series of crimes that haunt her. In her search for answers, she teams up with Sister Megan, portrayed by Micaela Diamond, a nun who also works as a reporter.

Discussing his acting experience on their “New Heights” podcast in May, Kelce expressed that filming has been “so much fun.” The 34-year-old acknowledged feeling like “an amateur” in a new environment but was proud not to have been “fired yet.” He shared that he is taking his role “scene by scene” while focusing on memorizing his lines.

Kelce’s path to “Grotesquerie” includes various entertainment projects, starting with his 2016 dating show “Catching Kelce.” On the show, he dated 50 women, one from each state, ultimately choosing Maya Benberry from Kentucky. Reflecting on the experience in January 2023, he described it as “extremely awkward,” noting he felt he wasn’t authentically portrayed.

Despite initially swearing off reality television, Kelce starred in Amazon Prime Video’s documentary “Kelce,” which showcased him and his brother Jason during the 2023 Super Bowl.

In 2020, Kelce appeared as a fictionalized version of himself in Showtime’s comedy “Moonbase 8,” where he suggested a daring solution to a water shortage during a moon mission, only to meet his demise in the first episode.

He also hosted “Saturday Night Live” on March 4, 2023, just after celebrating his second Super Bowl win. During his emotional monologue, he shared his love for the show and its iconic comedians. Kelce’s hosting gig reportedly helped him catch Swift’s attention.

On October 16, he will debut as the host of “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” on Amazon Prime Video, a reimagined version of the classic quiz show, featuring celebrity guests and a chance for contestants to win $100,000.

Lastly, Adam Sandler hinted that Kelce will be featured in the upcoming “Happy Gilmore” sequel, where he is set to play Sandler’s son. The film will follow the character Happy as he navigates personal challenges while attempting to get his life back on track.
