Travis Hunter Jr. Out for Season as Jaguars Lose Dual-Threat Rookie to Knee Injury

The Jacksonville Jaguars have experienced a significant setback with the news that two-way player Travis Hunter Jr. will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury. The injury occurred during practice on the eve of Halloween, prompting the team to place the rookie on injured reserve in hopes of a potential return. Unfortunately, after undergoing surgery to repair his Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL) on Tuesday, it has been confirmed that he faces a lengthy recovery period of approximately six months.

Despite the disappointing news, reports indicate that Hunter’s injury did not involve any further damage beyond the LCL. Throughout the season, Hunter showcased his versatility on the field, contributing as both a wide receiver and cornerback. In Week 7 alone, he recorded 67 offensive snaps and demonstrated his defensive prowess with an additional 14 snaps. Over the course of the season, he compiled 324 offensive snaps and 162 defensive snaps, resulting in 28 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown, alongside three pass breakups defensively.

While the Jaguars will miss Hunter’s dual-threat capabilities, the team continues to express optimism and support for his recovery. The coaching staff and players are rallying behind the young talent, highlighting his significant contributions thus far, and looking forward to his return in the future.
