Trainual, a provider of business documentation and employee onboarding software, has secured a two-year sponsorship deal with the Phoenix Suns and Mercury, establishing itself as their official onboarding partner, a new marketing segment for the teams. As part of this agreement, Trainual will enjoy enhanced visibility through courtside signage and augmented reality logo projections during local broadcasts of Suns games. The partnership will allow the Suns and Mercury to utilize Trainual’s platform for new employee orientation and compliance training.
While the specific financial terms of the deal have not been made public, the collaboration marks a significant step for Trainual, which is based in Tempe, Arizona, and was founded in 2018. The company’s software-as-a-service solution is currently employed by nearly 10,000 businesses.
Jonathan Ronzio, Trainual’s co-founder and CMO/CRO, highlighted that sports represent an emerging and promising sector for the company, with notable clients including Ironman. His brother, Chris Ronzio, co-founder and CEO, emphasized that high-touch service businesses, like sports, necessitate effective training to enhance customer experience and manage the higher turnover rates typically seen in sports organizations.
As part of the partnership’s kickoff, Suns/Mercury CEO Josh Bartelstein and EVP & CRO Dan Costello will join Chris Ronzio in a fireside chat during Trainual’s two-day Playbook conference. Additionally, Trainual organized a VIP party hosted at Mat Ishbia’s Player 15 headquarters and will hold an afterparty at the Mercury’s training facility.
Looking ahead, Costello anticipates that Trainual’s platform will expand beyond employee onboarding to include documentation of best practices for large-scale events, such as the NBA and WNBA All-Star weekends. He noted that “onboarding” serves as the initial step into their organization, but the software is expected to streamline operations and ensure consistency across various aspects of the organization.
This partnership illustrates the growing intersection of technology and sports, highlighting the importance of effective onboarding solutions in improving operational efficiency and enhancing the overall employee experience in a competitive industry.
Summary: Trainual has entered a sponsorship deal with the Phoenix Suns and Mercury, becoming their official onboarding partner. The collaboration enhances visibility for Trainual during games and aims to improve employee training and best practices within these organizations, reflecting a promising trend where technology increasingly complements the sports sector.
