Tragic Loss: Rising Star Marco Angulo Dies in Car Accident

Marco Angulo, a promising young soccer player for FC Cincinnati, has tragically passed away following a car accident in Ecuador that occurred on October 7. The 22-year-old was a passenger in a vehicle that collided with a metal barrier on a highway southeast of Quito, resulting in the deaths of the driver and his former teammate, Roberto Cabezas, who played for Independiente Juniors.

Angulo sustained severe injuries, including head trauma and a lung contusion, and was placed in an artificial coma. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries on Monday night, as reported by El Universo. Angulo had been on loan to L.D.U. Quito, the champion of the Ecuadorian league, at the time of his passing.

In a heartfelt statement, FC Cincinnati expressed their sorrow over Angulo’s death, describing him as a beloved individual who brought joy to those around him. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Marco — a husband and father, a brother and son, a friend and teammate,” the club stated. “He was a joyful, kind young man who lit up every room he entered.”

The Ecuadorian Football Association also paid tribute to him, noting his dedication and talent, which allowed him to represent Ecuador at various youth levels and even make his senior debut last November against Iraq.

Angulo is survived by his wife and young son, and both FC Cincinnati and the Ecuadorian FA have extended their condolences to his family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time.

This heartbreaking event serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the strong community bonds within the world of sports. While we mourn the loss of a talented athlete, we can also celebrate the impact he had on those around him. His legacy will continue to inspire many young players in Ecuador and beyond, and his memory will remain in the hearts of his loved ones.
