Tragic Loss: Rising Star Lucas Coly Dies at 27

Lucas Coly, the French-American rapper, has passed away at the age of 27. The announcement was made by his manager on Thursday, October 3. Coly gained recognition with his viral hit “I Just Wanna,” released in 2016.

His agency, I Discover Stars, shared the news on Instagram, saying, “I’m going to be in mourning… My brother is gone. Don’t wait until someone dies to give them their flowers.” In another now-deleted statement, Coly’s manager expressed deep sorrow, stating, “There is a hole in my heart right now.”

The exact cause of Coly’s death has not yet been disclosed. Fans took to social media to express their condolences and share their grief over the young artist’s untimely passing. One fan remarked, “Absolute Tragedy. Such a young soul at 27… all the talent and drive… whole life ahead of him.. gone.. but never forgotten.. rest in power King Lucas.” Another fan expressed their heartbreak, saying, “I’m crying all the way from London. The way his music connected with my soul is unexplainable. I can’t believe this has happened.”

In one of his last Instagram stories, Coly reportedly wrote, “I love y’all.” His final post featured him in a red tracksuit. In tribute, his agency released a brief track titled “Just Pray,” dedicating it to the late rapper. A supporter wrote, “May God give you the peace you deserve. Rest easy my brother. Love.”

Coly was born in France and moved to the United States at the age of eight. He initially gained popularity on Vine by sharing his music. In a 2017 interview, he expressed a desire to incorporate more French elements into his music, acknowledging his diverse fan base. He had shared his struggles with school, noting, “I didn’t really do good in school, so that’s really my main struggle,” emphasizing his commitment to pursuing a career in music.
