A man from Palm Springs, who gained fame appearing on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and other reality shows as well as telenovelas, has died following a stabbing incident. Eduardo Xol, 58, was hospitalized for his injuries and passed away on Friday at Desert Regional Medical Center.

Xol was featured in 65 episodes of the ABC series between 2005 and 2012, where he was credited as a designer and appeared in numerous other programs during the same period. Earlier in his career, he acted in telenovelas such as “Acapulco, cuerpo y alma” and “La jaula de oro.”

In a statement, Xol’s family expressed their heartbreak over his loss, highlighting the kindness he shared with many people. They requested privacy for their family during this difficult time and encouraged donations to the Lupus Foundation of America in Xol’s name instead of flowers.

TMZ first reported on Xol’s connection to the entertainment industry, with his mother confirming his passing to the tabloid. Richard Perez-Feria, former editor-in-chief of People en Español, shared his sorrow on Instagram, describing Xol as an important and talented friend.

According to the Riverside County coroner’s office, Xol sustained his injuries early on September 10 when the Palm Springs Police Department received a report about a man in distress. Officers found him in an apartment with serious injuries and that he had been stabbed but did not disclose who attacked him.

Police later arrested 34-year-old Richard Joseph Gonzales of Cathedral City, who had contacted them claiming he had been assaulted the night before. Initially booked on suspicion of attempted murder, authorities have now sought to press murder charges against Gonzales following Xol’s death. He is currently being held without bail.
