Anil Kuldip Mehta, the father of model and actress Malaika Arora, tragically passed away by suicide on Wednesday morning, leaving his family and the entertainment industry in shock. The 65-year-old reportedly made a distressing final phone call to his daughters, Malaika and Amrita Arora, just moments before his death, expressing feelings of profound despair. “I’m sick and tired,” he communicated during the call, according to sources.
In the wake of this tragedy, Malaika Arora shared a heartfelt statement on Instagram on behalf of the family, mourning their loss. “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. The incident took place at Ayesha Manor in Bandra, where Mehta fell from the sixth-floor balcony of their home. His wife, Joyce Polycarp, was present in the apartment at the time and grew concerned when she found her husband’s slippers in the living room around 9 am. After searching for him, she looked over the balcony railing and witnessed a chaotic scene below, where a security guard was calling for help. “That was when I realized something was terribly wrong,” she reportedly told police.
