Dayle Haddon, the celebrated actress and model known for her work with major brands like Estée Lauder and L’Oreal, has tragically passed away at the age of 76 due to a carbon monoxide leak in her home in Pennsylvania. Authorities received an emergency call early Friday morning regarding a 76-year-old man who had lost consciousness on the first floor of the residence. Haddon was later discovered unresponsive in a second-floor bedroom.
The man, identified as Walter J. Blucas, who is the father-in-law of Haddon’s daughter, has been admitted to a New Jersey hospital in critical condition. The home is owned by Ryan Haddon, a former journalist, and her husband, actor Marc Blucas.
Investigators have determined that a malfunctioning exhaust pipe in the building’s heating system was the cause of the deadly carbon monoxide leak. The dangerous levels of the gas also affected first responders, with two medics requiring hospitalization due to carbon monoxide exposure and a police officer treated on-site.
Haddon’s legacy extends beyond her modeling career; born in Quebec, Canada, she initially trained as a ballerina before making her mark in the U.S. entertainment industry. She was a familiar face on magazine covers such as Sports Illustrated and Vogue Paris in the 1970s and acted in films like “The World’s Greatest Athlete” and “North Dallas Forty.”
In a heartfelt tribute to her mother on social media, Ryan Haddon described Dayle as having “a pure heart” and leading “a life well lived.” She emphasized her mother’s kindness, creativity, and commitment to personal growth, expressing a belief that Dayle’s soul journey was complete.
This tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of safety measures in homes, particularly in relation to heating systems. As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of a talented individual whose influence will be remembered for years to come.
