Tragic Loss: APSU Football Player William Hardrick Passes Away Unexpectedly

A college in Middle Tennessee is grieving the loss of one of its football players, William Hardrick, a senior at Austin Peay State University, who passed away unexpectedly overnight.

Hardrick, originally from Adamsville, Alabama, had a diverse athletic career, having previously played at Mississippi State and Miami before transferring to APSU. He showcased his talent in high school at Minor High, where he excelled as both a wide receiver and a defensive back.

In a heartfelt statement, Gerald Harrison, Vice President and Director of Athletics at APSU, expressed the university’s sorrow: “We are truly saddened by the passing of William Hardrick, a new member of our football program and the Austin Peay family. All of our thoughts and prayers are with the Hardrick Family today and we will do everything we can to support his friends, family, and teammates at this time.”

APSU has not released further details at this moment, as their focus remains on providing support to the Hardrick family and helping teammates cope with the loss. Football coach Jeff Faris remarked on Hardrick’s exceptional character and contributions: “William Hardrick was an exceptional young man, and our team is heartbroken by his loss. He made everyone around him better and has made a real impact both on and off the field.”
