Kierston Russell, the twin sister of University of Alabama football quarterback Keelon Russell, has tragically passed away at the age of 18, as confirmed by the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office on June 5. The investigation into her death, which occurred on June 4, 2025, is ongoing and currently appears to be non-criminal in nature, according to Capt. Jack Kennedy from the Violent Crimes Unit.

Keelon Russell has expressed his grief on social media, sharing cherished memories of his sister and thanking supporters for their kind messages. “Stay strong for mom, my thoughts and prayers are with y’all,” he responded to a well-wisher on Instagram, portraying the deep bond that the twins shared during such a difficult time.

Kierston was an athlete at Duncanville High School in Texas, contributing to her team’s impressive run to the regional finals in basketball. Keelon Russell also garnered significant attention during his high school career as a five-star quarterback, which led to his enrollment at the University of Alabama earlier this year.

This heartbreaking news resonates with many in the community, highlighting the importance of support and togetherness in the face of tragedy. It serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the strength that family bonds provide during difficult times.
