Tragic Loss: Alabama High School Football Star Dies After Injury

A high school football player from Alabama tragically passed away Saturday, the day after sustaining a serious injury during a game.

Caden Tellier, a 16-year-old quarterback for Morgan Academy, was injured in the third quarter while being tackled during a matchup against Southern Academy in Selma, as confirmed by headmaster Bryan Oliver. Following the incident, Tellier was airlifted to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, where he was treated for a brain injury.

His family shared the heartbreaking news of his death through social media, expressing their gratitude for the support they received. “Our boy, Caden Tellier has met Jesus face to face. We appreciate all of your prayers, and we covet them for the hard days ahead,” they wrote. They highlighted Caden’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and love, noting that he would continue to impact lives even in his passing as he was an organ donor.

Oliver released a statement on the school’s Facebook page, reflecting the profound sorrow felt within the school community. “There are no words to describe how we feel as a school community and family. Caden will never be forgotten for who he was and what he means to Morgan Academy,” he stated.

In response to this tragedy, the school has decided to suspend all sports activities for the upcoming week, including the scheduled football game against Wilcox Academy.
