A man from Palm Springs, who passed away in the hospital after an apparent stabbing, was known for his appearances on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” as well as other reality shows and telenovelas. Eduardo Xol, 58, featured in 65 episodes of the ABC series from 2005 to 2012 and was credited as a designer. Earlier in his career, he also appeared in telenovelas such as “Acapulco, cuerpo y alma” and “La jaula de oro.”
In a statement to The Desert Sun, Xol’s family expressed their heartbreak over his loss, highlighting his kindness and its impact on many lives. They requested privacy during their grieving period and asked that donations be made in Eduardo’s name to the Lupus Foundation of America, honoring his dedication to helping others.
TMZ reported on Xol’s death, which was confirmed by his mother. Richard Perez-Feria, former editor-in-chief of People en Español, shared his sorrow on Instagram, describing Xol as a talented and passionate individual who played a significant role in his life.
According to the Riverside County coroner, Xol died at 12:19 p.m. on a Friday at Desert Regional Medical Center after being injured on September 10. Police responded to a call at the 400 block of East Arenas Road, where they found Xol in an apartment with severe injuries. Although he indicated he had been stabbed, he did not name his attacker.
Authorities later arrested 34-year-old Richard Joseph Gonzales from Cathedral City, who had called the police claiming he was assaulted the night before. Initially booked on suspicion of attempted murder, Gonzales now faces a murder charge following Xol’s death and is being held without bail.
