A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday during pickup time at Campbell Hall School in Studio City, Los Angeles, when a 15-year-old boy was fatally injured in a collision. The accident occurred in the school’s parking lot around 3 p.m., as parents were retrieving their children.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the boy was critically hurt after being pinned between two vehicles, including a green 2025 Rivian SUV and a smaller white SUV. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the Rivian struck the boy as he walked between the vehicles, with LAPD Lt. Matthew Bielski noting that the circumstances surrounding why the SUV moved forward remain unclear. The boy was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

In addition to the young victim, five others sustained injuries in the incident. Another teenage boy reported minor injuries but was evaluated on-site and did not require hospitalization. Furthermore, four other individuals, comprising one minor and three adults, experienced non-life-threatening injuries related to the crash.

In response to this heart-wrenching event, Campbell Hall School administrators have communicated to parents that classes would be suspended on Thursday. Grief counselors will be available to offer support to students and families in the school’s gym from 10 a.m. to noon, helping them cope with the tragic loss.

While this event has cast a pall over the community, it highlights the importance of vigilance in parking lots, particularly during busy times like school pickups. This somber reminder emphasizes the need for cautious driving and awareness of pedestrian safety in school zones.

As the community processes this incident, it stands together to support those affected, providing comfort and assistance during this difficult time.
