A woman contacted 911 early Wednesday morning to report that her teenage grandson discovered his parents dead at their residence, according to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident was reported around 7:42 a.m. by the woman, who stated that her 16-year-old grandson had arrived at her home and informed her of the tragic situation involving his parents.
When deputies and medical staff arrived at the family’s home in Midlothian, they found two deceased individuals inside. Preliminary examinations suggested that both individuals may have died from gunshot wounds, prompting authorities to investigate the incident as a potential murder-suicide.
The sheriff’s office reassured the community, stating, “At this time, the sheriff’s office does not believe there is any danger to the surrounding community.” They extended their condolences to the family during this difficult time.
Details regarding the timings of the fatalities and the presence of other individuals in the home during the incident were not disclosed by the sheriff’s office. Investigators are currently focusing on establishing a motive, but they noted that limited information is available as the inquiry is still in its early stages.
The identities of the deceased will be released to the public once their families have been notified.
