Milwaukee police officer Kendall Corder, aged 32, has tragically passed away following critical injuries sustained in a shooting. The Milwaukee Police Department made the announcement on Sunday after Officer Corder was shot multiple times while responding to a 911 call on Thursday evening.

Officer Corder, who had been serving on the force for the last six years, was shot in both the arm and chest, resulting in severe internal injuries. He was one of two officers attacked in what was described as an ambush while responding to a call around 9 p.m. near 24th and Garfield streets.

The second officer involved, 29-year-old Christopher McCray, was shot in the foot and back but has since been released from the hospital after undergoing surgery for his non-life-threatening wounds. McCray has also served on the police force for six years.

A news conference is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday by the Milwaukee Police Department to discuss Officer Corder’s death further. Following the conference, a procession will occur from Froedtert Hospital to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office. It is noted that Officer Corder’s organs will be prepared for donation, offering hope to save other lives.

Tremaine Jones, a 22-year-old man, is currently in custody in connection with the shooting. Formal charges are expected to be filed shortly by the district attorney’s office.

The Milwaukee Police Association released a statement expressing condolences following Officer Corder’s passing, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement agencies and the community’s need for support.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers and the importance of coming together as a community during such tragic events.
