Tragic news has struck the Israeli cultural scene with the passing of acclaimed actor, producer, and singer Alon Abutbul. The 60-year-old collapsed and died this morning at the HaBonim beach. Abutbul, celebrated in the film, television, and theater industry in Israel and a recipient of the Ophir Award as well as an Academic Award for television, also enjoyed an impressive international career. He leaves behind four children from his former partner, Shir Bilia.
Abutbul was scheduled to shoot for Giti Fisher’s new series “Bodeket” for yes tomorrow. Just hours before his untimely death, he shared a story on his Instagram account featuring a beautiful sunrise by the sea.
This morning, at 8:22 AM, MDA received a report via their emergency hotline about an unconscious man who had been pulled from the water near HaBonim. It was later revealed that he had exited the water and collapsed on the beach. Paramedics arrived on the scene and attempted prolonged resuscitation efforts, but tragically pronounced him dead shortly thereafter.
Born in Kiryat Ata in May 1965, Abutbul began his acting career at the age of 15, studying theater at the Telma Yelin High School of Arts in Givatayim. This role marked the beginning of a prolific acting career spanning several decades, featuring countless roles in television series, films, and theatrical productions.
