A multi-agency search and rescue operation was initiated on Saturday afternoon after a group of six people experienced a severe incident at Dillon Falls on the Deschutes River, located west of Bend, Oregon. The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office reported that the initial 911 call was received at approximately 2:57 PM, prompting a rapid response from multiple agencies.
Responders included the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Bend Fire & Rescue, and the local Search and Rescue team. The Bend Police Department contributed drone support while AirLink assisted with aerial searches.
Tragically, one individual was confirmed deceased at the scene, while three were successfully rescued and transported to St. Charles-Bend for medical treatment. Unfortunately, two others remain unaccounted for. Search efforts continued into the evening hours and, depending on progress, are set to resume on Sunday morning if needed.
The identities of those involved have not yet been released to allow for family notifications.
