Touchdowns for a Cause: Jalen Hurts’ Initiative to Keep Philly Schools Cool!

Jalen Hurts is taking his efforts to improve air conditioning in city schools to the next level. On Friday, just before the kickoff in Sao Paulo, the Jalen Hurts Foundation announced a new initiative for the 2024 NFL season. For every touchdown scored by the Eagles quarterback, the foundation will donate $5,000 to enhance air conditioning systems at ten additional schools in Philadelphia.

This initiative is a continuation of the Keep It Cool campaign, which aims to address the urgent need for climate control in schools. Currently, nearly 100 schools and around 50,000 students in the area are lacking adequate cooling facilities. Support from fans is essential, and they can contribute by making one-time or monthly tax-deductible donations to the cause.

Hurts, who recently signed a five-year, $255 million contract extension, is committed to making a positive impact in his community. Earlier this year, he donated $200,000 to provide air conditioning for ten Philadelphia schools.

With this new campaign, the Jalen Hurts Foundation aims to meet the needs of the schools still without proper air conditioning. Previously, Hurts provided $200,000 worth of air conditioning units to ten schools including Clara Barton, Gloria Casarez, Castor Gardens, D. Newlin Fell, Thomas Finletter, Fliter Academic Plus, Benjamin Franklin/Science Leadership Academy, Edward Gideon, Abram Jens, and T. Roosevelt. These institutions have been identified as a priority for receiving new air conditioning systems.
