Dallas Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland, along with his charity Bland Beyond Boundaries, has successfully facilitated a Thanksgiving meal for 500 families in North Texas. This initiative was made possible through a collaboration with The Wilkinson Center, as part of their annual Thanksgiving Turkey Basket Drive and Distribution held on November 26.
Bland expressed the charity’s mission, stating, “Bland Beyond Boundaries is focused on supporting underprivileged communities across the country with an emphasis on the youth. We’re all about being resourceful and assisting young boys and girls in need, including those faced with food insecurity.” He conveyed excitement about the partnership, which aims to ensure that local families have access to meals not only during Thanksgiving but also beyond, and mentioned a commitment to future collaborations with the Wilkinson Center.
The charity’s focus extends to addressing the socioeconomic and educational needs of the youth it serves. Bland Beyond Boundaries places significant importance on education, physical fitness, and emotional well-being for young individuals.
The Wilkinson Center has been a vital resource for the community for over 40 years, providing support to families to achieve employment, financial stability, and, importantly, access to food. Daley Ryan, the executive director of the Wilkinson Center, expressed appreciation for Bland’s foundation, highlighting how important community support is for their ongoing efforts.
Each of the more than 500 families receiving baskets will be provided with traditional Thanksgiving meal items, including turkey, canned vegetables, stuffing, gravy, rolls, pie ingredients, and essential paper products.
