Tottenham secured a place in the next round of the English League Cup after a dramatic late comeback, defeating Coventry City 2-1. The match took place at Coventry Arena on Wednesday, where the home side initially took the lead with a goal from Brandon Thomas-Asante in the 63rd minute. However, Tottenham equalized in the closing moments through Djed Spence, who found the net in the 88th minute. Brennan Johnson then sealed the victory for Spurs with a goal in the second minute of stoppage time.

Coventry, who narrowly missed out on upsetting Manchester United in last season’s FA Cup semifinal, faced another disappointment against a Premier League team despite a commendable performance. Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou praised Coventry’s energy and highlighted that his team had to work hard to earn the win.

In other action, Wolverhampton’s challenging start to the season continued as they were eliminated from the competition following a 3-2 defeat to Brighton. Brighton took a 2-0 lead with goals from Carlos Baleba and Simon Adingra. Although Goncalo Guedes managed to score for Wolves before halftime, Ferdi Kadioglu extended Brighton’s lead to 3-1 late in the match, with Tommy Doyle scoring a consolation goal for Wolverhampton in injury time.
