Toronto rapper Top5, also known as Hassan Ali, suffered a stab wound to the neck during an incident in London over the weekend of July 13–14, 2025. The attack reportedly took place while he was interacting with fans near the Wireless Festival, where Drake headlined for three consecutive nights.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that a masked assailant approached Top5 and stabbed him in the neck. Fortunately, he survived the attack and is currently recovering. Updates from hip-hop blog keep6ixsolid on Instagram revealed that no major arteries were affected during the assault.
The specifics regarding the timing and location of the stabbing have not been confirmed by law enforcement, and Top5 or his representatives have yet to provide an official statement on the matter. Speculation regarding the motive for the attack has emerged online, linking it to ongoing feuds within the Toronto rap community. Notably, rappers Why G and FB, who have connections to the “Wassa” camp, were in attendance at the festival and were reported to have reacted with laughing emojis on their Instagram stories, a move interpreted by some as mockery.
Top5 is no stranger to controversy in the Canadian hip-hop scene, having faced serious legal troubles in the past, including a charge of first-degree murder related to a shooting in 2021, which was later stayed. Just hours before the stabbing, Top5 made remarks during a livestream that some perceived as provocative, stating, “There are no real killers in London.”
The incident has drawn attention from individuals in the music industry, including DJ Akademiks, who expressed his support for Top5, stating “Praying for peace at top five. I love you, brother.”
As authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this violent episode, fans and the broader music community are hopeful for Top5’s swift recovery and for peace in the rap scene.
