A tornado warning is currently in effect for western Cumberland County and southern Salem County in New Jersey until 12:45 p.m. today. The National Weather Service has reported that a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was observed near Bridgeton, moving southeast at a speed of 30 mph, with radar showing indications of rotation in the storm.

As severe thunderstorms are expected throughout the region, residents are advised to stay alert. The weather system poses risks of high winds, thunder, hail, and the possibility of isolated tornadoes as the morning fog dissipates. A NEXT Weather Alert has been issued for the area, promising ongoing updates as the storms progress.

A flash flood warning is also in effect until 3:30 p.m. for parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania due to heavy rainfall, impacting areas such as Philadelphia, Trenton, Camden, Wilmington, and others. Additionally, central Chester and Delaware counties are facing another flash flood warning that extends until 3:45 p.m.

Currently, severe thunderstorm warnings are active in parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware until 12:15 p.m., with specific areas in Cumberland, Salem, and Gloucester counties under a severe thunderstorm warning until 12:45 p.m. Wind gusts have been observed at speeds of up to 60 mph, with hail reported at the size of a quarter.

Earlier this morning, a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for areas north and west of Philadelphia, including Berks and Lehigh counties, but that particular alert expired at 11:30 a.m. A severe thunderstorm watch is still in effect for other areas until 5 p.m.

Looking ahead, the forecast indicates a warm Saturday with highs in the mid-80s, followed by a shift to sunny and mild conditions into Sunday and next week. The weekend promises to be an ideal time for outdoor activities with pleasant temperatures and clear skies.

Staying aware of weather updates will be crucial as these storms move through the region today.
