A tornado warning was briefly issued and subsequently lifted on Wednesday morning as severe thunderstorms swept through Alhambra. The storm system prompted concerns from meteorologists about the potential for hazardous winds and severe weather conditions across several areas, including Pasadena, Monterey Park, San Gabriel, El Monte, and Temple City.
At around 10:20 a.m., the National Weather Service alerted residents that a thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado had moved into the region. However, just ten minutes later, the tornado threat was downgraded, although a severe thunderstorm warning remained in effect due to the likelihood of damaging winds.
Residents were advised to seek immediate shelter if a tornado were to develop, primarily to protect themselves from the risk of flying debris. Meteorologists emphasized that while the possibility of a tornado materializing in Los Angeles County was low, estimated at only 2 percent through Thursday, they remained cautious about the impact of severe storms in the area.
Should a tornado form, experts noted that it would likely be small and short-lived, but it could nonetheless pose risks to weaker structures, such as trailers, and could potentially uproot trees.
