JAY Dasilva has urged his Coventry City teammates to embrace the opportunity of leading the Championship as they prepare for a significant match against Norwich City. The Sky Blues enter this encounter enjoying a strong momentum, having secured consecutive victories at home, and currently sit three points clear at the top of the table ahead of Middlesbrough, with a game in hand.
Reflecting on their last visit to Carrow Road, where Coventry suffered a heartbreaking defeat due to two injury-time goals, Dasilva highlighted that this season’s squad is markedly different. He expressed confidence about their capabilities moving forward, saying, “From going there last year to this year, it’s a completely different feeling. It’s nice to look back and see [where we were].”
Dasilva recognized that Norwich has started to pick up valuable results, acknowledging that the upcoming match will present challenges. He stated, “It’s not a bad thing to be top of the league. It’s a good learning curve and we need to just embrace the challenge.”
The full-back also noted that the team’s FA Cup third-round loss to Stoke City served as a crucial turning point, helping to reset their mindset after a challenging period over the Christmas holidays. Recent victories against Leicester City and Millwall have demonstrated Coventry’s resilience and determination.
“The last two wins were really important for us, and we hope to make it three in a row,” Dasilva remarked. He emphasized the importance of focusing on each game individually: “It’s all about worrying about just us and focusing on what we can do to rack up as many points as possible.”
As Coventry prepares to face Norwich on Monday, January 26, with kick-off scheduled for 8 p.m. at Carrow Road, the team is looking to build on their recent successes and maintain their position at the top of the Championship. With hope and determination, the Sky Blues aim to continue their impressive run.
