Tony Hawk has been a prominent figure in the world of skateboarding for over four decades, and he embraces the nostalgia his fans feel for earlier games in the Tony Hawk franchise. In a recent conversation, Hawk expressed his willingness to support the demand for remasters and remakes of classics like Tony Hawk’s Underground, provided he’s able to influence such projects.

Hawk highlighted that for a successful game endorsement in 2025, it’s crucial to blend nostalgia with modern features. He noted the importance of incorporating new characters, tricks, and levels into the remastered versions of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4, which are set to be released on July 11. “We want to do the ‘Best of THPS 3 and 4’ but add something new to take it to a different realm,” he stated.

The upcoming remaster isn’t just a trip down memory lane for Hawk; it also includes nostalgic elements from his past endeavors. He reminisced about his unique experience serving as the stunt double for Tony the Tiger in a Kellogg’s commercial during the early ’90s. Excitingly, the collaboration will see Tony the Tiger-themed cosmetic gear featured in the upcoming game, making Hawk nostalgic for that pivotal moment in his career.

Hawk also confirmed the participation of fellow skater Bam Margera, who will be returning to the game after uncertainty about his involvement. Hawk reached out to Margera personally, encouraging him to join the project as he noted Margera’s positive energy and motivation. Additionally, popular character Constable Richard, who is based on Jack Black, will also feature in the remaster, providing a familiar touch for fans.

As the new game approaches its launch, discussions about the future of the Pro Skater series have emerged. While Hawk is hopeful for more remakes and remasters based on fan interest, he acknowledged that the final decision lies with Activision, stating, “This is for the fans.” The excitement around a potential Underground remake reflects the enduring legacy of the franchise and its impact on gaming culture.

This news highlights not just the continual relevance of Tony Hawk in skateboarding and gaming, but also the potential for future projects that celebrate the rich history of the series while bringing fresh new elements to engage both old and new fans alike.
